Taking Stock

It’s been 8 weeks since I started commuting into Dublin City every day for work.

– Money spent on DART tickets = €208
– Hours spent commuting = 120 (5 days)
– Weekday hours spent with Eve = 80
– Steps taken en route = 408,640
– Pounds lost = 0
– Books read = 4.5
– Free newspapers read = 80
– Free newspapers refused = 240
– Times I’ve been sneezed on = 1 (if you make me sick again Mr. Commuter-with-the-flying-snot, I will hunt you down!)

I’m kind of grossed out! Some people have no sense of consideration. I gather that commuting hasn’t been the most fun. Wish you had more hours to spend with your sweet girl!

Commuting sucks. And also blows. I cannot describe how brilliant is is to be a 10-minute drive away from work, with only a smattering of traffic lights and a reasonably nice journey in between.

Those are sobering thoughts! I guess I’m lucky with just Killiney-Blackrock trip. I’m one of those b*stards who drives and causes congestion. But I might cycle in the summer.

On the positive side you are getting some great photos of Dublin City.

Sarah, it’s true, commuting isn’t much fun, but getting to read more books has been a definite upside and I’ve only been sneezed on once 🙂

Matt, ah go on, rub it in why don’t ya!

John, Killiney isn’t exactly the best place for public transport as I recall so I’m not surprised you drive. And getting to photograph in Dublin is a definite upside to my commute.

Sandy, I’ve not been tagged for a meme for ages! I’ve actually done the 5 things one already though…it’s here.

Hi–I happened upon your interesting site while blog networking through Blog Explosion.
I learned a while back that, if you can, having your work and home as close to each other as possible was more efficient. You’d think at least the loss of a pound or two would make it worth the effort (laugh)!
Hang in there.
