Wedding Photography: Amanda & Brian

I’ve had a really busy few months full of gorgeous weddings and now I get to process them. On the one hand, it’s a lot of work but on the other, I love going back and seeing all the images. Amanda and Brian’s wedding was a relaxed, family affair with a touch of luxury, I photographed Amanda’s sister Alicia’s wedding a few years ago and it was lovely to see so many familiar faces again. The bride and her girls got ready at the Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin and the ceremony was in the always magical University Church on the other side of the Green, Alicia sang during the service and she had everyone in tears, I was even getting a little welled up. She’s hoping to start singing professionally at weddings and I have to say, she’s already the best wedding singer I’ve ever heard so if you’re on the look out for a singer for your wedding let me know and I’ll point you in her direction.

After the ceremony we spent some time wandering through the Iveagh Gardens before heading back to the Shelbourne to celebrate. Amanda and Brian live in Chicago so there was an Irish American feel to the whole day including the music which had everyone up dancing. Thanks Amanda and Brian for asking me to be a part of your day!

Wedding Photography: Niamh and Tommy

Well, a lot has happened since I last posted…actually one thing has happened but it was a big thing…our new baby arrived. Little Thomas Wilson is happy and healthy and already 5 weeks old. Coincidentally, the groom at my first wedding back last Saturday was also a Tom and it turned out to be a great wedding to ease back into things. The weather was perfect, the bride and groom were happy and so much fun to be around, Christina Brosnan was along to help me out, Eamonn and Anna from Flowers Made Easy did the flowers and the Photobooth and there was even a helicopter!

OK, hold on to your hats, lots of photos heading your way:

Summer Wedding Photography, Millhouse Slane

Are you as sick of this rain and fog and darkness as I am? I’m so ready for spring to arrive. I have beautiful winter weddings I could be posting but I was going back over some of my summer weddings from last year and just seeing the golden sunshine and the flowers and the green cheered me up no end so I thought I’d spread the cheer. This is Amy and Conchuir’s wedding from a breezy warm weekend in July. (Aoife, who did the make up, was telling us how she was stepping back from it to concentrate on her new business The Bridal Lounge and this week not only did she win Bridal Make Up of the year at the Weddings Online Awards but The Bridal Lounge also picked up the Best Supplier Website! Congratulations Aoife and Deirdre.)

I only pulled the couple away from their guests for 15 minutes because it would have been mean to take any longer, thankfully we only had to go a few steps away to find a pocket of pretty light by the mill:

And as for the reception venue, well the Millhouse in Slane is more like a house in Provence, billowing lavender and everything. The House itself is modern and swish so it’s a mix of old and new. Amy and Conchuir’s details were wonderful, from the Battle of the Boyne centrepieces to the beer in the bathtub outside, I was spoilt.

Ahhh, I think I feel a bit warmer now!

New York Wedding Photography

It’s been a while coming but I’m so happy to show some of the photographs from the wedding I shot in New York this summer. I loved New York and I loved this wedding, it’s one of the highlights of my year and I still can’t believe I got to go all the way to New York to shoot a wedding. The bride and groom were married in the Lotos Club right beside Central Park and the bride and her bridesmaids all got ready in the bridal suite. The bride wore a gorgeous deep blue double dress with a rose and lavender bouquet:

The groom’s daughter and the bride’s nieces made up the bridal party and they were great fun, there was lots of laughs and gossip and buzz in the room while everyone got ready:

…and some fab shoes:

The bride rehearsed her vows to the girls and had everyone in tears including me behind the camera:

The ceremony was so simple and intimate and they incorporated traditions and readings that were very personal to them including the Jewish tradition of the breaking of the glass. A close friend of the bride and groom was ordained online just so she could officiate their wedding:

The ceremony was in the late afternoon and afterwards we had about 20 minutes to catch the sun before it set, with Central Park literally across the road we took a walk over there for a few photos:

While the guests mingled in the library I slipped in to the dining room to take some photos of the tables all laid out. I loved the books wrapped in ribbons and there were photos of their travels in Ireland on each table:

The library made me want to snuggle down in a big chair by the fire and read:

To the bride and groom: Thanks for letting me share these and thank you so much for inviting me to come over and capture your day. Your encouragement over the years has meant a lot and I can honestly say I wouldn’t be a photographer today if it wasn’t for a certain conversation down on Dublin’s Docklands about 3 years ago!
