China Bans Reincarnation

I had to double-check that I wasn’t reading The Onion when I saw this one. China has announced a new law banning Buddhist monks in Tibet from reincarnating without government permission. How does that even work? Do you get “deported” back if you’re caught?

According to a statement issued by the State Administration for Religious Affairs, the law, which goes into effect next month and strictly stipulates the procedures by which one is to reincarnate, is “an important move to institutionalize management of reincarnation.”

Thats absolutely insane! Can you imagine people all these people filing applications for Official Permission to Transcend to Another State of Being??!!

Unbelievable!

Interesting read, well spotted. As you read on of course it is all about ruining the influence of the Dalai Lama.

Reminds me a bit of the Vatican in the distant past meeting to discuss how many angels could fit on a pinhead. Or more recently getting rid of Limbo after traumatising parents for so long about their dead un-baptised babies not going to heaven or not even being buried in church cemeteries.
