I’ve been thinking it’s time to call in the decorators again and give the blog a bit of a sprucing up. I want less clutter overall, something a bit more streamlined and I’d like to have the space to post larger photographs. I launched into it at midnight last night (why is it always at that time of night when I get these great ideas?) and of course proceeded to erase my entire blogroll. Well, it’s back up again now but I still want to change a few things around so if the site goes a bit funny over the next few days you’ll know why. Hopefully I won’t mess things up too much!

Update: Whew! I think I’ve managed to get through it without any major mishaps (knock on wood). So, other than the obvious changes like font, colour, header, etc. I’ve now got loads more space for larger photos (which means I’m going to have to start taking more care with my sharpness!). I’ve tidied away my out-of-control Blogroll and Archives to their own pages. There’s also an About Me page explaining a little bit about how I got into photography and answering some frequently-asked questions. You can find the links to those pages as well as to my other websites over to the right on the sidebar. I thought it would be fun to put a little “In My Bag” section over there too since I know I love to hear what other photographers have in their camera bags. If you’re having trouble viewing this page or if the header hasn’t changed you might have to clear out your cache so that the changes show up in your browser.

So those are the main things. If you find any bugs please let me know and I hope you like the changes!

Thanks for the feedback John, it’s good to know because I’d say I can trim it back and still get the larger images. Am working on it right now.

Haha, I promise I’ll be as quick as I can and it’s all saved so if it’s horrible I can always go back 😀

Claire – this looks great and the photo looks terrific on my screen – I have the same issue (wanting to have a wider panel) but unfortunately I’m technically challenged in that department so it’ll have to go on a list for another time.

Great! I’m happy with it so far, just adding a couple of pages and then I’ll go back and put in larger images (might take awhile!). Annette, I wish I could tell you how to do it but my method is to go into the code, save it all and then start changing numbers 😀

Ah the full tidy up is wonderful! I like the maple leaves on top and the pictures are all a nice size. No left/right scrolling needed now. I also like the recent comments being visible without drilling down.

Hi Claire, I have a wide screen too and the new look is fantastic! I can really enjoy your photographs. The Mayo workshops sound inspiring and well done to Frank for thinking it up and to you and Annette for your contributions. Our teenagers are this country’s future and events like this give them the foundation to follow their dreams and the encouragement to dream.

I have complete and utter lens envy ( eh, no, I lie..) jealousy is gnawing at my soul…

Thanks everyone, I’m glad you all like it 🙂

Maisey, I have serious antique camera envy of those cameras in your Flickr stream. Those are real beautys!
