Wedding Photography: Matt & Nikki Part 2

couple Wedding Reception at Ballybeg House, County Wicklow.

Cocktails and Beer

(*Part One linky) OK, now brace yourself for lots of photos…believe me I whittled these down but Matt and Nikki’s reception was like being in a sweet shop for me. First off, the reception took place in Ballybeg House in County Wicklow. It started with champagne in the courtyard and I mingled with the guests taking photos of everyone having a good time:

I did manage to steal the bride and groom away for a few portraits…including my favourite…the infamous eyebrow shot:

Meanwhile, the reception area was being prepared, the lighting was spectacular…Matt works in the theatre so these guys knew how to light a room.

On each of the tables were photos of Matt and Nikki on their various trips around the world plus there were gummy worms…genius!

A few fun moments from the speeches:

Speeches

OK…last one but I can’t not mention the band. They were absolutely brilliant, they’re called Spring Break and they had everyone up on the dancefloor from the start. The best part? The guitarist had his own wind machine:

Thanks so much Matt and Nikki for letting me share these with everyone!

These photographs make up a superb collection for a fun wedding – I think the wedding album will be a hoot and bring back happy memories for the couple in years to come. Great work Claire.

My only fear is that now people have seen these, we’re actually going to get inquiries from people looking for us to plan their wedding. I was quite serious in my speech when I said the best thing about being married was that you never had to plan another wedding.

The main thing for us was, we wanted to have lots of fun, and we did our utmost to ensure that everyone else had just as much fun as we had. I think it worked.

Among the best wedding photos I’ve ever seen. Is the crazy glow on some of the shots a product of post-processing or cunning use of prime lenses?

Love the new theme too! Maybe I’m showing how long it’s been since I did what was a fairly regular trawl around my blog bookmarks by saying that though 🙁

@Matt. You definitely accomplished that…I had a great time and I wasn’t even a guest! 😀

@Ryan. Wow thanks Ryan! I still think that one of these days we need to second shoot for each other. If you mean the glow on the shots of the lighting and tables then it’s mostly down to the post-processing, they were taken with my 17-40mm which is still my favourite wide angle. Haven’t traded it in for a wide angle prime just yet. The dancing shots were done with bounced Flash which is where the blur on Nikki’s dress came from.

Well as you know I am in the middle of coding hell, and feel ill looking at this site, the photos are stunning and the new layout is amazing really really simple but so effective!

As Ryan says I am like himself and have not looked at photoblogs for a long time, I am a bad blogger, but today has made it all worthwhile.

Great photos Claire!

@Alastair I’ve said it before (in my wedding speech, actually) and I’ll say it again: The best thing about being married is knowing that you’ll never have to plan another wedding. We didn’t spend a lot of money because we did everything, and I mean everything, ourselves. Never again!

I love these so much, they’re stunning. Think the eyebrow shot is my fave, but they’re all fab, they show the personality of the couple and the wedding so well. Well done!

Have to agree with what everyone else is saying, some of the best wedding photography, actually just some of the best photography I’ve seen. Will you do a masterclass? 😉

Congrats on your marvellous transformation. As usual I’m late and catching up with developments but I must say your wedding shoot sets the bar very high. I love the luminosity of your shots.

Thanks again everyone for all the comments, it’s really been lovely to read them all, you’ve made me blush. I’ll say it again…it was a really fabulous wedding.

Darren, I’ll do a wedding masterclass if you’ll do a landscape one! 😉
