Here Comes The Wagon

f/1.8, 1/320 sec, at 85mm, 6400 ISO, on a Canon EOS 5D Mark II

My mum brought Eve and her cousin (and me and my sister) to the Lambert Puppet Theatre for Eve’s birthday. It’s a really nice day out if you have kids of a certain age. Though I have to warn you, if you are an Irish adult of a certain age you’re likely to be humming this theme tune for days afterwards.

23rd February 2010: RIP Eugene Lambert. So sorry to hear the very sad news that the wonderful Eugene Lambert has passed away. I’m so glad I got to see him in his element one last time when I took this photograph, he was a very large part of my childhood and I know I’m not the only one who will be feeling the same way.

Brings back memories – I remember my Mum bringing me to see Judge when I was very little. They must have been doing a travelling tour. Gorgeous photo! 🙂

Ah, Eugene Lambert – a living legend! Haven’t been with the kids in over a year. Must go soon!

Superb shot, oh the memories!

@missmilki It was a very strange experience to sit there and see all those characters again. I actually teared up a bit when Eugene Lambert came on stage.

@Stephen I’m ashamed to say I’d never been to the theatre before, I’ll definitely bring Eve again, she loved it.

Was taken for the 1st time in primary school and loved it. We try to go once a year, the kids just love it – the expressions on their faces just crack me up – mesmorized. There’s something deeply special about good storytelling and children. Just wonderful!

On this sad day I’m reminded of many many visits I made to the theatre with visiting Americans. They all rated it the highlight of their holiday. This shot brings back so many memories. Thanks Stephen for linking and Claire for the wonderful photo.

Lovely Claire. We went a couple of times when I was in primary school. I loved it at the time but it’s only when you get a bit older that you realise what a genius people like Eugene Lambert and Jim Henson are, that they can take an inanimate object or a piece of cloth and stick a couple of eyes on it and make it come to life.
