The Beautiful People

I’ve been dying to show off some of the lovely people I got to photograph last weekend, I just had to make sure everyone had had a first peek. So now I can finally show the results. I had four sessions scattered throughout the day, there were to be two others but due to unforeseen circumstances they had to cancel. This meant that I didn’t get to shoot any children that day so my portfolio still needs some work, but I’m more than happy with the shots I did get. Thanks again to everyone who came along and allowed me to drag you to all sorts of weird and wonderful places along Killiney Beach! So here are a few of my favourites from the day:

First off is Matt of Life Without Toast. A real natural and the early bird of the day. He was able to show me some great locations that I used for the rest of the day:

Next came Mike, a journalism student from DCU and an extremely nice guy with a spooky resemblance to my little brother:

Next was the lovely family of Aisling of Team Geared Up, Wednesday Night Runners and Aisling’s Blog Page. This is one fit family, I’d recommend reading about their running adventures, puts my couch potato ways to shame!:

My last session of the day was with my good blogging pal John (of Dublin) of Earth And Universe. He managed to persuade his lovely wife Joey to come down with him and they were great fun. Again, they were brilliant sports even when I had them standing under the train tracks amongst the graffitti and other debris!:

There are lots more on Flickr in my portrait set.

They’re gorgeous Claire, thanks again. My favourites (if that’s allowed!) are of John of Dublin and his wife. Lovely colours in the background and they look so relaxed!

Nice work Claire!

Marci, the kids and I would love to pose for you. There are lots of great spots all over the Seattle area. Just let us know when…maybe sometime next week? 😉

Beautiful!!!!

Wow…

How do you do your Black and White photos. Do you change them in Adobe? Mine always looks so flat. Any suggestions?

Thanks everyone! I was so exhausted at the end of the day’s shooting but I had a great time doing it.

@Redmum: Thank you. I have to say my new lens was a star on the day. I’m so happy with the detail and the sharpness I can get with it.

@Aisling: You’re more then welcome. I’m sure John will be very happy to know you like the shots of him and his wife. I do too, they’re a lovely couple.

@That Girl: I will be taking some more shots of you at the Irish Businesswomen’s Conference…I’m down to take photographs of all the speakers and I’m looking forward to getting some more of you 🙂

@Erik: Maybe I would be in heaven taking photographs in your part of the world! You never know…it just might happen.

@Marci: I do the conversions in Photoshop but the trick is not to do the straight Desaturation or Convert to Greyscale. I use the channel mixer and curves to boost the contrast. It’s a bit complicated…maybe I’ll do a post about it.

@Matt: That means a lot Matt, I’m so glad everyone seems to be happy with the results! I’m especially glad your better half approves 😉

for what it’s worth, I like the one of Matt best, the first one in the series:such a great composition and texture…
I must tell John of dublin what a fine woman his wife looks in your photos.
Claire, I think you’ve done us all a service. Up until this, it was all bloggers anonymous.

Wow. I love your use of colour and composition all the way through. I really like the textures at play in the first one of Matt, and your effortless characterisation of Mike. He really does seem like a nice guy in those photos 😀

Fair play.

why have a look-alike when you could’ve had the real Mcoy eh?! if i ever need to pin a crime on someone i’ll know ehere to look

AWESOME photos i like your black and whites the best.
i wish i lived closer to Dublin 🙂

Great job Claire. All the photos are so well taken. Th Coppingers indeed look very fit and healthy – I won’t be racing them to the top of the Sugarloaf!

Thanks to Aisling, Omani and to you Claire for the much needed confidence boosting comments for us oldies!!

My wife was about to put me to death for agreeing to this session! However, she enjoyed it when it happened. A nice friendly photographer makes such a difference!

Excellent seeing the results here Claire, I am green with envy of that new lens you have picked up, does a fantastic job.

I have to say the first photo would be my favourite something to do with the colouration you have done, its really nice and the backdrop seems to suit the guy perfectly.

Well dona again.
