I’m not much of a seamstress (I was going to say sewer, but that doesn’t work!) but I find it very therapeutic to make stuff that has nothing to do with work. I spotted this pattern on the wee wonderfuls blog and decided to give it a try and this rabbit was the outcome. It was very simple: only took about five hours to do eventhough I had to handstitch it (I don’t have a sewing machine) but I did it while watching tv. I watched a horror double bill on Film 4: Resident Evil and Cabin Fever…perhaps that’s why it turned out a little bit creepy:
Eve found it the next morning and she loves it which was the most rewarding part:

Thats cute!
Thay both are.
I really need to get me a nice portrait lens. What’s the max aperture on the one you’re using? I was thinking of getting one, but not sure whether to go for a f1.8 or shell out the extra wonga for an f1.4?
Any advice would be nice! Oh and you don’t do weddings do you? ๐
Thanks Grannymar!
Matt congratulations! I loved your proposal to Nikki…now that’s the way to do it ๐
I’ve actually photographed the weddings of both my siblings. It’s a nerve-wracking experience that’s for sure. I think I was more nervous than the bride and groom!
For these shots I used my Canon 17-40mm f4 which isn’t usually my portrait lens. I can get a lot closer to the subject though. My favourite portrait lens is my Canon 85mm 1.8 and it is tack sharp. I used both lenses when I was photographing you and the close up ones are the 85mm. I bought mine from Hong Kong (keaphoto on ebay) and I think it was about รยฃ180 sterling. You should head into Conn’s Cameras in Dublin and try a few out, that’s what helped me decide.
First BookMooch, now this. I want to make a cute, creepy little bunny now too. I feel like a Claire CopyCat. So yes, if you jumped off a bridge, it would probably start to look a whole lot more exciting and cool to me. ๐
For the record, I already have plans to do NaNoWriMo this year. Are you going to do it again? (I’ve had to promise Peter I won’t be so obsessive this time around.)
Well, I’m arriving pretty late to this whole cuddly toy making so feel free to jump on the bandwagon with me ๐
As for NaNoWriMo, I swore I would never do it again after last year but the closer it gets the more I’m coming around to the idea. If I can think of a suitable story I’ll probably go for it. I’ll have to make a similar promise to Matt though!
Aha, I see through your cunning plan for world domination now – first you put us all off guard with incredibly cute photos of Eve, then you unleash your army of handstitched creepy bunnies…
But I’m not worried ‘coz it ‘ll take years to make the whole army of them at that rate. ๐
Thanks for the lens advice. I saw a few Nikkor (for I am of the Nikon persuasion) f1.8’s on eBay for like รขโยฌ50-ish Sterling plus vat. Should’ve bought one I s’pose.
Oh and I’ll keep you posted re the wedding. I’ll email you, and don’t worry too much, it’s not like it’s going to be a traditional-type wedding. Would love if someone I know takes nice photos was doing the job though.
its soft cuddly Zombie bunnies… RUUUUUUNNN!!!!
Haha, I’m working on that zombie bunny army…it might take awhile though.
That is so cute Claire, what a precious gift for Eve… might have to have a go!
