DaDa John

Laugh

Damien very kindly asked me to do a guest post on his blog. I decided to take the opportunity to share some photographs I took of my Grandfather. The photo above is a little extra one that I didn’t use in the post on Damien’s blog, I love it because it shows him in full storytelling mode.

Check out the post here.

Not Only Will We Lose Your Luggage…

…we’ll also help you get a date…whether you wanted one or not.

A few weeks ago Damien Mulley of Irish Blog Awards fame had his bags lost by a company called Sky Handling Partners. He blogged about their subsequent incompetence here (strong language warning) and lo and behold this morning he finds that someone with the same IP address as his friends the handling company has been signing him up to gay dating agencies and writing “interesting” profiles for him.

Click the first link in the post to get the full story.

Omani asks an interesting question…if you knew something like this was happening at your work…what would you do?

Signs, Grips And Words

I got back from the Irish Businesswomen’s conference this evening and am about to collapse into my bed. It was a brilliant couple of days and I thoroughly enjoyed being there and taking part as well as taking the photographs but today I’m exhausted. I gained a new respect for photographers who cover day-long events like weddings…they really earn their money.

The photographs of the conference are up on Flickr, Conn will have the Podcasts up very soon and Keith Bohanna live-blogged the event, so with Annette chairing the day’s proceedings and Alan being one of the speakers, bloggers successfully infiltrated the conference.

We’re becoming a little like the masons…we need a secret handshake.

May I Take Your Photo?

Would you be interested in modelling for me? I’m in the process of building up a photography portfolio and I need your help. I’m looking for people of all ages, couples, individuals and families who would be interested in having their photographs taken for free at a location somewhere in Dublin (to be decided) in about two weeks time (I’m thinking a Saturday would probably be best for people). It would only take about an hour of your time and I would give anyone who took part a free image at the end of it all. Of course, you would have to be willing for me to use the photographs in my portfolio but don’t worry, I won’t use your name if you don’t want me to! Just scroll through my blog for examples of my photos but here and here are a good place to start. You could also check out my Flickr stream.

So, if you’re interested, email me at gingerpixelATyahooDOTcoDOTuk, tell me a bit about yourself and details of who you would like me to photograph and I’ll give you some more information.

Update: Thanks everyone for your response…I now have enough models for the day.

Kevin And Angelina

BW02

Kiss

Our good friends Kevin and Angelina, after two and a half years here in Ireland, are moving back to California at the end of the week. Before they leave, Angelina asked me to take some portraits of them and I jumped at the chance to have willing subjects (other than poor Eve who thinks her mother looks like a Canon lens) to practise my portrait-taking on. I’ve wanted to take photographs down on Sandymount beach for ages so I suggested we try it out as a location and, although the bright sunlight made it a challenge to find angles where they weren’t forced to squint, I’m happy with how they turned out. It was a lot of fun too.

We’re really going to miss them both when they leave. Who is Matt going to talk computers with? And who am I going to talk blogging with?!

A little cheesy? Maybe, but this is my attempt at a Tara Whitney shot and I kind of like it:
