Mondello Japfest Photowalk

Mondello Park in County Kildare organised a Photowalk yesterday during their Japfest race day. I was lucky enough to be invited and despite the rain we had a great time and there are some brilliant photos appearing already. You can see them by going to Pix.ie and searching for Japfest.

I could have titled this post “Spot The Car,” yes, I went to a Photowalk in Mondello and didn’t really take any photos of cars. There were a few on my card when I was looking but they could have passed for AutoTrader ads so I’ll spare you them. I just kept getting drawn away from the races and the stunts (which were brilliant by the look of the other photos) to the spectators and petrol heads.

Thanks a million Mondello, particularly John who organised everything and made sure we were well fed and watered and to Fergus who made sure we didn’t end up wandering onto the track!

Wedding Photography: Ian & Tonya Part 2

More photos from Ian and Tonya’s wedding in Ballybeg House (Part One is here). Group photos can be a little bit repetitive so although I get the traditional posed ones I like to try and mix it up a bit too:

After the group ones I stole the couple a way for a few:

Just a few more from the reception…and yes, they had a pig on a spit!

Wedding Photography: Ian & Tonya

I’m really excited to be blogging this wedding, I already posted one photo from it recounting my close shave with the steps at the beginning of the ceremony. Thankfully the rest of the wedding was a breeze, Tonya looked stunning and both she and Ian are lovely people with a great sense of fun so the two of them together in Ballybeg House = a dream wedding. This first photo is of the Grouse Lodge near Ballybeg House where Tonya and her bridesmaids got ready:

Tonya bought her dress on eBay and it was amazing, the train was so long it took up half the room and she wore a beautiful Gone With The Wind style corset under it. Her waist was tiny.

It rained all morning and then just as it was time for the ceremony the sun came out and they were able to go ahead with it under the gazebo looking out at the Wicklow Mountains:

The groomsmen all wore blue runners and so did the extremely cute flowergirl:

Just a couple more from the ceremony and I’ll post some more tomorrow:

Eve’s First Day

First Day

I can’t believe a year has gone by since I posted about the first day of Educate Together in Greystones and today Eve had her own first day there. Everyone keeps asking me did I cry and I didn’t because we kept it light and up because it’s a good day! You can get all maudlin about it if you really let yourself start thinking about your baby growing up and singing ABBA songs to yourself but that’s just masochistic.

Eve was laid back about it all, she had a little wobble when she realised we were leaving but she gave us a hug and we didn’t make a big deal of it and she was fine. I admit I did sneak back up the stairs to have a peek and she was all smiles and her hand was up with everyone and it was all good. I really wanted to try and recreate this photo from last year but this time with Eve in it and the stars aligned and I think I got quite close:

I didn’t take many photos, it’s funny, when I’m hired to photograph an event it’s easy enough for me to do what I have to do to get the shots, but when I’m there just as a parent I get all self-conscious and feel like a dork with a big camera.
