Bouncy Bridge

Can you see what it is yet?

On my way to catch my train home the other night I stopped on the Millennium Bridge to try and snap a shot of the Hal’penny Bridge which was reflecting perfectly in the calm River Liffey. Crowds of commuters crossing the bridge at the same time, all in their own hurry to get home, made it impossible to get a clear shot because the bridge I was standing on was bouncing so much. In the end, after many failed attempts and with just ten minutes to get to the DART station, I decided to just go with it.

Wow, impressive. What’s better is that it’s natural – your didn’t fiddle it in the PC darkroom! The slow shutter speed did it all.

You must enjoy having many opportunities to take photos in the city.

John, I’m loving it! Definitely one of the good things about working in the city.

Funny you should say that Matt because after taking this photo I went out the other night and took some long shutter speed photos around O’Connell Street. Most were rubbish but I think I got a couple of good ones purely by accident, I just need to upload them.

I’ve got a few good long-exposure experiment-ey ones at Flickr, using a blue LED torch thingy, one of those light-up pens, 20-30 second exposures and a large quantity of alcohol.

Long exposures rule. 🙂
