See You Later DaDa

My DaDa passed away last night. He’d been in hospital since just after Christmas so we all knew it was coming but, looking at this photograph and knowing the mischief that’s in those eyes, I still find it all a little difficult to take in. I don’t really know what else to say, but his photographs were so well received when I posted them here and on Damien’s blog I just felt like I should tell you all.

Sorry for your loss, Claire. I came across your blog only today, via a scenic route from Graham Linehan’s blog. For what it’s worth, I just want to say your animation work is really good.

Michael

Claire may I offer my deepest sympathy to you on the death of DaDa. Thank you for sharing him with us. Your photos will be a lasting memory of a great character.

Thank you all so very much, it’s given me a real boost today to read all your comments. It means a lot.

Oh, that’s sad news Claire, my condolences. I remember enjoying the great photos you took of your granddad last year. They are a wonderful legacy. He sure has lived a long life. If it’s any consolation I was the same age as you are now when my Dad died and my grandparents were long dead at that stage.

John, I have been so lucky with my grandparents, I had all but one of them alive until I was in my thirties. It gave me the chance to get to know them as an adult and I’m really grateful for that. Thanks for your kind thoughts.

Thinking of you and your family at this sad time, thank you for sharing this with us.

So saddened to hear of your loss Claire, I’ve been in that same place myself a few years ago.
I wish you strength and comfort in the time ahead.
I have found that the photos I have of my Dad were a great comfort to me, even the crappy snapshot ones, you’re fortunate to have some great photos to evoke happy memories.

Thanks again everyone, I’m so touched by all the comments, really it means an awful lot.

Thanks Paige, Ryan and Rick, we had the removal today and the funeral is tomorrow. I hate funerals (I know…who doesn’t?) so it’ll be a relief once it’s all done.

Just catching up on some reading of blogs and saw that your abuelo se murió…I am so sorry. My God heal your heart. I don’t know if we ever completely get over it. Some days I still mourn my granny but it is a soft thing and warms me heart to think of her. Blessings Belinda
