Canon, The Assignment

Canon has a competition on at the moment caled the Assignment. I have entered one of my photographs into the Portrait section and so now I’m shamelessly pimping for votes. Please, if you have a few seconds, I would greatly appreciate it! The photo can be seen here and it’s one of the lovely Quinlin that I took when I was in Seattle.

Good luck! Just be aware of the T&C .. they get lots of rights to that photo regardless of whether your photo wins or not. Mcawilliams has a post about it where I left some comments about this too.

Yes, I saw that Donncha and gave it some consideration, I weighed it up against those pretty sweet prizes 😀 . Generally I don’t enter competitions because of the rights thing (it’s also why I don’t put anything more than snapshots up on Facebook, they have similar T&C) but I guess an exception every now and then is something I can live with. As far as I can see they have permission to use the photograph (with credit), but I haven’t signed away copyright of the image, it’s still mine and in two years that license ends. There are some I’ve seen that have you signing away all ownership. Good to always read the small print.

Nice photo gingerpixel!

I have the pupils in my class actively involved in photography …. we have a dedicated home on the net to dispaly our photos.

We did well in an international photographic competition one year.

Keep up the good work ….. 🙂

Pimping also Claire, but from my pimp came an interesting comment from Alan from the Irish photographers site, seems canon may well be looking at a revision of their t+c’s

Thanks for the votes everyone! Lucy, you’re on a roll. That shot is so brilliant, it really stands out from the others. Good luck to you and to you too John 🙂
